Gray Blades blow a 3 to 1 lead!!!!!!!

Walt is thinking that Lynx has only 6 players so they are behind the 8 ball

But Lynx adds the best 4 players from the game before so now it will be a battle

we are up 3 to one in the early going of the last period...but they score 2 flukes and tie it up

Both teams have a plethora of chances but the Goalies stand their ground..Johnny Annan scored the first after 2 sloppy missed attempts by Tom....Reg and Steve scored on Break aways to give us our 3

with a minute to go, we get called for tripping but the guy who went down should get an Academy award for embellishment

we managed to hold them off for the tie..here Jim Stone is talking about his new beer diet and how he got another 3 assists tonight..and Louis is writing it all down!

The lovely Jennifer took care of the most important part of the evening!!!

The Blues are singing the Blues after a 7 to 4 loss!!!!

We were playing tit for tat in the first period trading goals on the way to a 4 all tie

After a 2 year hiatus, Mark Feeley makes a triumphant return

In the 2nd period da Blades ruled with 3 unanswered goals to take the game

2 goals each by faster Pete and Steve and singles to Mark, John and Hal...a 2 assist performance by Murray and Gordo....MIA was Ron Craig...Walt filled in in net and Enzo made his debut with the Blades

Lyons 2 - Gray Blades 1

Last game of the year was against Lyons.  John scored on a nice 3 way passing play from Steve and Enzo late in the first period and the Gray Blades took a 1-0 lead. 

Rich, Owen, Gord and Pete played a solid D game limiting Lyons to minimal scoring chances.

Gerry took care of the blue ice and it was still 1-0 with only a couple minutes left in the game.   Paul, Kerry and Reg had chances but were held off the game sheet.

  

Next year looks doubtful and this may have been the Gray Blades last game in this league. 

Lyons got a goal in the last minute + then got the winner in OT.   We drowned our sorrows with Molson Canadian + subs in the dressing room post-game. 

Owen joined the boys at Jacks.  It looked like the twins got a new tattoo but it turned out to be a smudge and the Gray Blades helped out by licking it off.

Strangers 6 - Gray Blades 2

Gray Blades lose 6-2 to the Strangers and finish the 3 game playoff round with 1 tie.  No championship this year. 

Next week, the Gray Blades play Lyons in a nothing game to finish the season.  

It's been a rough couple weeks

Gray Blades tie the Hawks after leading most of the first playoff game.  Then drop the second playoff game to Lyons. 

Blades were missing Gerry, John, O, Dryds and Steve. Paul and Enzo stepped up to help the team but it wasn't enough in this game.   

Blades need help to make it to the championship game. But the first task is to beat the Strangers (again) next week. 

GRAY BLADES 3 - HAWKS 1

John is getting ready for the game.

Steve is checking to make sure that he is on the starting line up. Rich forgot to bring the white board so there was no pregame strategy speech this week. 

Dryds and Paul hook up to look after the offense. Dryds goes top shelf for one and chips in a cross crease pass for another.  Paul goes top shelf on a breakaway to ground the Hawks. Dryds gets 2 goals + 1 helper. Paul chips in with a goal + an assist.  

Regular season ends with the 

Blades in a 3-way tie for second place. After the tie-breaker rules are applied, final standings have Strangers in 1st, Lyons in 2nd, Gray Blades 3rd and Hawks 4th. 

Playoffs start next week. Format is a 3 game round robin + ends with the 'ship. 

GRAY BLADES 7 - LYONS 6

Owen prepared defensive tactics and positional play to defend against the Lyons offense.  Coach Rich brought out the white board to show what Owen was talking about. The Blades were told that defending against the Lyons set plays was going to be the key to success.  

As it turned out, Owen lost that guys after he said "listen carefully", because they decided that scoring 7 goals can also result in success. 

Chads broke in on their goalie and put it along the ice for a goal. On the bench, he told Dryds that he was trying to go top shelf. Later on a nice pass from Dryds, Chads put it along the ice for a goal. On the bench, he told Dryds that he was trying to go top shelf.  Third time was the charm, as Chads did put it top shelf for the trick. 

Dryds and Rich got 3 assists each. Jim would have been proud.  Paul and Reg got 2 goals each to round out the scoring.
