Jim Stone hosts Super Bowl 50 party.
Cam Newton's highly anticipated MVP party and \Jim's retirement fund took a big hit tonight.  On the bright side Gord scored twice tonight and the referees did not take it away.  Gord won a pool at half time and another for the final score.  Although Ron Craig missed the big pool, he did cash in on one of the other pools. Robbo was shut out. Tom and Murray were kept off the score sheet. Reg is questioning Jim because there seems to be a misunderstanding as to the meaning of the words "guaranteed win".  It was good to see Bill, John, . . . .
Overall, another great party!

Gray Blades 5 - Casey's 2
With the regular season almost finished, Casey's find themselves in a battle for the fourth and final playoff spot in the top tier.  So this game was important to them and they had an early 2-1 lead.  The Gray Blades finally started rolling, scoring 3 times in the second period.  Only problem was that after recording Gord's goal on the game sheet, the refs decided that the goal would not count. So they crossed it out.
Robbo shut the door on Casey's and the forwards scored two more in the third period.

Kerry scored twice, singles went to Mark, John and Quigs. That's what the game sheet says. Except I thought that Gord scored twice and only had 1 taken away.
Anyways, we ended up a Jack's to rehydrate. Evidently, we always want a beverage.
Jim looked nervous at the game.  Super Bowl 50 takes place this weekend.  He has made all the party arrangements. But he may have promised more guaranteed wins than there are betting pools.

John A scored twice and Murray had a goal and an assist. Jim had one assist and this one was legit.
That's it for the good news.  The rest is all bad.  Blades did not show up. A game to forget. Harco 5 - Gray Blades 3.  Blades were missing Quigs, Crit, Owen, Kerry, Tom + Andy.  We picked up Rich from John's other league.  Paul Annan played goal for Harco and made some key saves but we should have put more pucks past him.

OK so here's my first crack at updating the blog.

Gray Blades 4 - Hawks 1
Pregame warmup, watching the Leaf's game. They lost.

Standings - Blades are 11-4-1 and in 3rd place. Not quite as good as last year's regular season but the plan is to win the last game this year.

Blades were down 3 players this week with Tom recruiting in FLA, Andy recovering from an upper body injury and Jim out on the street selling things. It took a while for the Blades to get rolling in this game.  Hawks scored halfway through the first period and held the lead until John scored with 10 seconds left in the period.  With 1 goal in the 2nd by Mark and 1 in the 3rd by Quigs, the Blades finished a lot stronger than they started.  Kerry closed out the scoring with an empty netter.

Postgame conversations indicate that Tom got 4 assists + Stone got 1.  Stone continues to lead the Blades in scoring despite having played so few games that he is currently not eligible for the playoffs.

Gray Blades lose 2 t0 1 playing 2 teams!!

With the arrival of the Recue crew , we know we are game on!!

Owen showed up, but probably won't see him again for while, (according to Owen!!)

The wood chopping Lyons with a great deal of help from the Refs and a timekeeper that called the game with 2 minutes to play saying we did not have enough players, just because Jim, Murray and Tom are on Old Age pension doesn't mean anything

Quiggs scored our only goal and then was pushed into the net and he got a penalty!!

next time we play the Lyons I need to double up on the armour

Manager John Annan congratulated Jim Stone on his 500th career assist!!

Next week we are missing, Tom (scouting in Florida), Andy (upper body injury), and possibly Owen as the league has a hard on for him!!

At least the beer was cold at Jack's!!...and so were the fries, so they did not charge us for them

Don't forget Jim's up and coming Super Bowl party.....Jim pays interest on any cash that you give him towards the pools. Ron Craig usually wins the big pot so concentrate your bets on the little bets, like the Coin Toss ....or what time Cal starts playing the piano!!

Gray Blades defeat the 1st place Urine Pond!!!

Team Manager, John Annan's rigid Holiday Conditioning program paid off as the Pond could not handle our superior strength....only allowed 9 beers a day and one bag of Chips or a Pizza, made us strong!!

Jim Stone had 3 assists, on the 2 goals....he banked it off the boards to himself in the late going and then rifled it over to a patient Chads who used me as a decoy (if only the Goalie knew) and then shelfed it!! The insurance goal was scored by Quiggs

Reg forgot his sweater tonight and seemed a bit lost and worried about what to do if an empty net opportunity came up!!
At Jack's, Tanya had our reserved table waiting for us in the corner where the anxious Puck Bunnies could only dream of us  from afar
Some of the Puck Bunnies that follow us around....the "Jeff" that is referred to is code for "Stone"

Gray Blades dump Mimico 6 to 2!!

Da Blades were missing Kerry, Chads and most importantly , Stone!!

The Old Farts, Murray and Tom combined for 3 assists!!

Andy had the Hat Trick, but no hats came down from the Crowd?

Owen and Peter, our "D" scored one each

Johnny had a beauty Break away short handed!!

Stone was indisposed but had 3 assists anyways!!!
