Gray Blades dump Derbys 6 to 1

The Derbys had only 7 players to our 9 but they were their best players and they opened the scoring in the 1st period at the 6 minute mark, but that was all they had because Gerry would not let them back in the game.  We were missing Gordo, Kerry, Owen and Reg, not to mention Quiggs and Mark.

Jim had 2 beauties and this time it was on the opposition net. He also had an assist to give him his usual 3 point performance. Tom had the Gordie Howe hatrick, the goal on a nice cross ice pass from Hal, the assist on a relay to Chads and then to Johnny who took a shot from the low slot tough angle that managed to bulge the twine....and the penalty by trying to fend of some asshole that was hooking me,  Andy had the other 2 goals, both beauties and Chads had 3 assists, trying to catch up to Stone in the point race. Most importantly, Ron Craig, a call up from Omaha played 2/3 of the game tonight and was a plus 3!!!! Hal was forechecking and backchecking at great speed tonight and the Paul and Addy and Stone line was a force out there.

We welcome Gordo back!!!!!!

Gordo came out tonight to watch the Older Blades flounder in the Tuesday night league....great to see him on the road to recovery...we lost 3 to 1 and Jim scored the 3rd goal for the bad guys!!!!!  17 years ago I invited Gordo to join the Gray Blades because his daughters were so good  , i felt they got their talent from him, it was only later I learned that they got it from their Mom!!!!!

Blades lose the 1st game of the winter season 4 to 1, playing 2 teams!!!!!

Faster Pete is telling Jim he is going to be feisty this game and he was ,  booted out of the game early in the 3rd Period

We had 9 players to their 14 and were down to 8 players at the begining of the 3rd

Missing Gordo, Andy, Reg and Kerry.....I mean Really!!!! 

we were hacked and slashed all night and these guys never stopped the pressure

Our only goal was scored by Paul on a set up by Tom who was very aware of the need to make that pass work

yes we look dejected in the dressing room as it was our first loss in quite awhile

At least Jim Stone could be comforted as he managed to have another 3 assist performance tonight

all is not lost when you know there is a beer waiting at Jack's

Gray Blade dump Lyons Wood Choppers 5 to 3

These Lyons guys wanted to beat us badly to revenge their disappearing act in last year's playoffs

they had the refs on their side, when we got a penalty in the early going we were not allowed to change and they were...the refs will soon see a rule book sent to them by Amazon to their front door

2 goals by Andy, 1 by Paul, and the other 2 by Marc Richard that included an empty netter that he dedicated to Reg who has some mysterious lower body injury

The big difference was the Goal tending.....Gerry made up for our numerous mistakes and their guy could not solve the Blades!!!...and the Lyons were chirping on their own Goalie...that sucks!!!

Stothers wants to know if he can defect...he lost every Face Off to Andy tonight!!!!

Gerry is telling Tanya ( who brought the Twins!) how great Stone was tonight, setting up 3 helpers!!!

we have the early game next week and we still have, Gordo, Quiggs,  Reg and Mark on the Shelf....

Hard to believe that we are missing these guys and still manage to win

Blades 5 - Pond 2

Several Blades took an early season trip to warmer US weather. MIA were Tom, Owen, Kerry and Colin. Plus with Gord and Mark on the DL, we were down to 8 skaters. Reggie got Andy Rogers from the Corbetts' league to help out as the 3rd D although Chads would have been ok playing the full 60.  

 Jerry is on the mend. Not quite 100 percent but looking and sounding a lot better than last week,

 Golden Pond were not so golden this week. They had guys partying in the sun as well. They only had 7 skaters and were easy prey for the Blades.

Paul continues to be strong down the middle and chipped in with 2 goals. The gamesheet showed Andy with 3 goals. But Andy said 1 went off Jim's backside, so give Jim 1 goal and Andy 2 goals. A quick check of the gamesheet on Friday morning, showed Jim with 2 goals and Andy with 1. Hmmm  . . . . there may have been another modification at Jack's by anonymous.

As usual, we saw Dan Stothers and Lyons at Jack's.  We play them next week.  Have to follow Jim's training program to be ready to play my best next week. 

Winter is coming

Gray Blades with a lot of help win 2 to zip over Mimico

Da Blades were missing Chads, Kennedy and Andy, sort of like, the Leafs missing Matthews, Nylander and Marner...but we won!!!!

We spent more time in the Box then they did and they are the wood choppers!

2 seeing eye goals by Reg and the best was when he out maneuvered the Goalie behind the net and wrapped around and bulged the twine with only a few inches of net to see!!!

Once again, Jim Stone had 3 assists tonight!!

Reg and John had a clear break aways and managed to bury the puck into the Goalie's pads

Faster Pete was in 2 altercations against their top goon

Gerry filled in for himself tonight....he could barely talk  he was under the weather and you could tell, but he stood on his head and we would not have won without him as there were times when Mimico was all over us!!!

Next week , half the team is away so John needs to do some major recruiting
