Gary Blades lose 2 to 1 in the Finals

We have not lost a game since June

But tonight we hit the perfect Storm

It does not matter that the Old Basterds paid their fine 2 months late or that they never got the Bond for the shit disturber or that they had a team full of non registered players....we still should have beat them

We had many chances but could not solve their Goalie

We were playing 2 teams tonight as the Ref s gave us 2 penalties that should not have happened in a clutch game 

And of course the Basterds scored and we were behind the 8 Ball 

Andy and Mark combined for our only goal but it was not enough!!

At least Tanya and Jack's were happy to see us tonight

Going forward we have our tournament in April, the Summer league on Monday and Wednesdays as well as our 2 tournaments at Grand Bend and Wooden Sticks

Jim and I are thinking of retiring because we are not fast enough any more or maybe I should just speak for myself because after all, Jim lead the team in scoring this year!!!

Robbo was fantastic tonight and he made the differance

The game was even except the Goal Tenders made the dif....we were missing Stone (who had 3 assists) and Reg who is practicing his shots somewhere far from the Frozen Tundra

Goal were by Kerry, Johnny A, Pete and Murray...Andy had 2 helpers....

Next week we play at 9:15 PM probably against #11 (hockey challenged) and the rest of the Old Basterds for the title.......

 they were one us in the early going and Robbo had 3 new D  to contend with

Somehow the Old guys prevailed

and Owen our nervous new coach had nothing to worry about

1st game of the playoffs and the Blades come out flying

They had only 2 lines to our 3 which contributed to their undoing

Andy scored a goal on each of his 1st 3 shifts which put the Pond behind the 8 Ball in the early going

And Jim Stone really had 3 assists on all three of Andy"s goals

Gordo scored on a breakaway from the red line from a great pass from Johnny A....what was our D doing there anyway??

And Robbo earned another deserved Shutout

Johnny A and Tom scored our other 2 goals and the Pond was simply  not there tonight...in the closing shake, they said they wanted to meet us in the final round....WHY??

Gray Blades down Casey's 2 to 1

On this very cold Siberian night we complete the regular season with another win ....Robbo is sporting the Muskrat Hat that his Dad Made famous!!

Robbo is asking Faster Pete to stay at home once in awhile ....and of course Pete is assuring Rob that there are no worries......BUT,,, there Are!!

Undefeated for the winter season!!

Andy had a beauty Crosby type goal.....I hope the new ownership signs him up for a contract extension

And Johnny A had a nice one on a great set up by Reg, our cub reporter

Jim Stone had 3 assists and was the first star..and John is still wearing Black Socks for some reason...our Ringer, Rich filled in admirably tonight as we were short "D"

Next game is at 9:15 against Urine Pond, then 9:30 X Casey's and 10:30 X Old Basterds...the real Season begins!!

Our New Coach is getting the preferential treatment from Tanya!!!.....Hey.... She never poured me a Beer when I was the Coach!!!

Stone is sorely missed!!!

Gray Blades edge Harco 9-1

John showed up at a team function wearing black socks which is against team policy.  Pete threw John's socks in the shower.  Wonder if John will be traded. 

Jim was not in this week's line up leaving a vacancy on the golden line.  Murray stepped up to the plate and filled in admirably, scoring the first goal and adding 2 helpers.  Jim will have a difficult time getting back into the lineup - can you say Wally Pipp?

Tanya was asking about Tom's whereabouts.  How is it that Pete has first hand knowledge of every on ice incident but always claims that he was just an innocent bystander? Collin was nursing a fat lip and sporting 3 stitches from a high stick on the weekend.  Pete claims that he is innocent.  

John (1), Reg (3), Mark (2), Andy (1) and Kerry (1) rounded out the scoring.  Robbo should have had a shut out. Once again the forwards were to blame.

Blades shoot down Hawks 7-1
Game time was too late for anonymous.  Quigs + Rich Holder were called up to round out the lineup.  Hawks got 1 fluke goal. Rich blamed the forwards. Andy + Quigley scored 2 each. Both got 1 goal by batting the puck out of the air. They are getting ready for spring training. John and Reg got 1 goal.  Play of the night was Pete's no-look backhand to the top shelf - it is posted to YouTube - search under can't score on breakaways but the backhand is working. Hopefully Rich makes it back to the correct farm team 'cause he was going to get on the bus to Peoria. Jim got 1 assist. Search party was sent out for Tom.
